Really nice work!

I have though some problems with Loading the WorkflowDesignerControl on the web server. What happens is that the DesignSurface fails during BeginLoad, after the call when I look at designSurface.LoadErrors I see one error message saying "Showing a modal dialog box or form when the application is not running in UserInteractive mode is not a valid operation. Specify the ServiceNotification or DefaultDesktopOnly style to display a notification from a service application."

The code fails then since designerHost.RootComponent will be null.

This will not happen every time, once now and then the BeginLoad call succeeds.

Your code works (where you call the WorkflowDesignerControl inside an HttpHandler). I tried to modify it a little so the img src tag pointed to a standard aspx page where I did the same as you did in your httpHandler. For some unknown reason (for me) that caused the above error.
In my opinion that is strange since both codes runs on web server...
However your solution works so I stick to it.

this is a great idea.

I'm starting to consider using such a componennt for administrating workflow definitions of several distributed applications.

I could imagine that many people would be interested in such a component. IMO it's more than worth to start an open source project on it. Or maybe even develop it further and distrubute commercially.
