Which brings to mind the conversation I had yesterday with our payroll representative, in which she exclaimed, "You'll be getting more in your check starting this month!". I asked if that was my stimulus money, and she said yes. I asked if it would be just enough for a few Starbucks runs and maybe a pedicure, and she excitedly said "Yes!". "So", I replied, "this means the stimulus is doing exactly the right thing - giving me a little boost that I will WANT to spend at local businesses, but not enough to make me want to pay off a credit card bill?" And she confirmed this was the case, and we both chatted about how it's great that the THING THEY SAID THEY'D DO IS THE THING THEY ARE DOING! I had assumed that a payroll agency would be stacked with short-sighted GOPers, but apparently MY payroll service employs people who think. Pleasant surprise!!
